Apogee

Ranked 1v1 for KovaaK's

You and an opponent near your rating play the same three scenarios. Each one goes to whoever beats their own usual score on it by the bigger margin, so it's about who plays above their level on the day. Scores are read from KovaaK's stats files, so nobody types anything in.

Below are all 164 Season 1 scenarios and the score each rank needs on them. Bring your own scores and see where you land.

How a match works

  1. Install the app and sign in through Steam. It uploads the runs already in your stats folder, and you can queue once 50 of them are in.
  2. Queue one of the six categories, or all of them. You get matched with someone near your rating.
  3. The app puts the three scenarios in a KovaaK's playlist. Play them like you normally would.
  4. Each scenario is scored against your own baseline on it: the median of your last 50 runs, or 90% of your best if that's higher. The bigger improvement takes the scenario. Ratings are worked out on the server, not in the app.

Season 1 ranks

Each category is split into four difficulty bands (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert), and each band has its own ladder. Your rank on a scenario is the highest column your best score reaches.

All of these thresholds are provisional. The scenarios are new, so there weren't enough real scores to set ranks from. Each one was predicted from the scenario file and then adjusted using playtest runs and the same players' scores on KovaaK's leaderboards. They'll be recut from real runs once there are enough, and ranks can move when that happens.

Static Clicking 8 scenarios

Your score is how little time passes between kills, so flick straight at each target, fix it with one small correction if you need to, and be looking at the next target before you click.

Dynamic Clicking 9 scenarios

The targets are moving, so stay on each one for a split second until you're sure you're on it before you click, and don't let a sudden change of direction drag your crosshair with it. On targets that take several hits, move with them until the last click.

Precise Tracking 6 scenarios

Stay smooth and keep your crosshair in the middle of the target the whole time, moving with it in one steady motion and using your arm on long strafes. If your aim gets shaky or you keep losing the target, drop to an easier version.

Reactive Tracking 6 scenarios

React to where the target goes instead of guessing, and sit slightly on the side it's moving away from so you have room when it turns. Stay relaxed, because jittery aim usually means you're tensing up, and if you catch yourself predicting, play an easier version for a while.
